Pinky is our adult female Nhandu tripepii Tarantula aptly named for her incredible pink coloration of all her setae or ‘hairs’. She is a rather large and very dare I say fuzzy terrestrial tarantula from Brazil. Nhandu tripepii in captivity is often very skittish and quite aggressive; therefore, it is not an ideal species of tarantula for beginners. Being a New World species Nhandu tripepii has rather weak venom however if threatened they will readily kick urticating hairs from their abdomen. A beautiful species to observe and enjoy but not to handle.
