Cross River Puffer or Red-line Puffer
(Tetraodon pustulatus)

A rare freshwater puffer believed to be endemic to the Cross River in Nigeria and Cameroon. Classified as "Vulnerable" on the IUCN Red List due to ecosystem degradation due to pollution caused by expanding human encroachment. Their primary foods are snails, small freshwater crabs, and insect larvae."
With a standard length of around 15.75 inches or 40cm, it is the third largest freshwater puffer. They require a large, well established aquarium that is densely aquascaped with hardy plants (these fish will decimate delicate plants), lots of visual barriers, hiding spots and soft, sandy substrate. In such an environment, they will feel more secure and likely to engage in natural behaviors and feeding. The flow of the water should be medium to strong, but never so strong as to overpower the fish.
